1960 Famous Artists Course

In stock

This is the 1960 version of the course which began the classic illustration course's modification from classic SEP-style illustration to illustration & graphic design.

The Famous Artists School was organized by Albert Dorne in the late 1940s. He brought together fellow illustrators John Atherton, Austin Briggs, Stevan Dohanos, Robert Fawcett, Peter Helck, Fred Ludekens, Al Parker, Norman Rockwell, Ben Stahl, Harold von Schmidt and Jon Whitcomb to form the founding faculty. The earliest conception was to split the course in two parts: the "basic" course and the "advanced" program. The 1948 and 1950 versions of the course followed that concept. However the the Advanced Program was discontinued and the 1954 version of the course combined elements of the "basic" course and the "advanced" program into a single unified course of 24 lessons. The course underwent major revisions in 1960 and 1967.
