The Comic and Fantasy Art Amateur Press Association (CFA APA) is the best-known of the amateur fan publications. This APA has always benefited from some of the biggest names in comics fandom. Roger Hill, David Winiewicz, Todd Adams, George Hagenauer, Robert Barrett, Charlie Roberts, Bill Leach, David Applegate, and others.
A compilation of the best of the first 20 issues (1985-1990): articles, interviews, con reports, and lots of unpublished art. The text pieces are by this serious group of art collectors / fan-boys as well as their guests, professional artists invited to write on some subject (i.e. William Stout writing "How I inked 'The Demon'", Mark Schultz writing about Al Williamson, and Roy Krenkel correspondence). Fascinating reading.
Interviews: Murphy Anderson, Richard Corben, Kim Dietch, Will Eisner, George Evans, Gene Hazelton, Russ Heath, Jeffrey Jones, Harvey Kurtzman, Jon J Muth, George Pratt, Mark Schultz, Charles Vess, Walt Simonson, Dick Sprang, Gahan Wilson, S. Clay Wilson, Berni Wrightson, and others.
Reproduction is spotty for the most part on par with photocopies, line art reproduces fairly well, tonal works not so much.
