He was a pen & ink virtuoso, painted the "I Want You" Uncle Sam recruiting poster, wrote and directed silent film shorts, and wrote and illustrated several books. He was a bon vivant who lived the romantic high life in New York and Hollywood! He was profoundly influenced by Charles Dana Gibson and Flagg in turn influenced Frank Godwin, Everett Raymond Kinstler, and others.
