This copy was signed at the 2014 CTN Animation Expo by the author Pierre Lambert and Disney Legends Burny Mattinson and Floyd Norman who both worked on the film. Given Pierre lives in France and Burny and Floyd live in California, any books signed by this group are rare.
This slipcased coffee table art book has 220 13 x 13 inch pages with 250 color illustrations reproducing artwork from the film: visual development studies, storyboards, layouts, animation drawings, cels, and backgrounds. From the first sketches of Kay Nielsen to the drawings of Milt Kahl and Marc Davis to the magnificent backgrounds by Eyvind Earle.
La Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty) follows the same glorious format of the previous books in this series by Pierre Lambert devoted to classic Disney animated films: Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse, Blanche Neige (Snow White), Walt Disney: l'Age d'Or (The Golden Age), La Livre de la Jungle (The Jungle Book) ... (the last three only published in France.).
The text is in French; however, an English language translation booklet (created by Stuart Ng Books) is included.
If you are an animation or Disney fan, you are likely aware of a series of coffee table art books by Pierre Lambert devoted to classic Disney animated films: Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse, Snow White, Walt Disney: l'Age d'Or, The Jungle Book...(the last three only published in France.)
Another masterpiece is here: Sleeping Beauty.

La Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty) follows the same glorious format of the previous books in this series. It is published by Editions de L'Ecole George Méliès.
With the success of his animated films, television shows and Disneyland amusement park in California, Walt Disney could take on one of the toughest challenges of his filmmaking career, the adaptation of the Charles Perrault fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty. This book holds the amazing story of the creation of this great Disney animated classic, the first made in widescreen Technirama Super 70mm.
This journey through the dream of Walt Disney is guided by the desire to know the remarkable work of six hundred people who, between 1953 and 1959, participated in the creation of Sleeping Beauty. The initial studies by Kay Nielsen, the magnificent backgrounds of Eyvind Earle, the drawings of animators Milt Kahl and Mark Davis are among the nearly 250 original works (preliminary studies, storyboards, layouts, drawings, animation cels and backgrounds) reproduced in this book, testament to the cartoon as an art form.
More than half a century after the release of Sleeping Beauty, this luxurious book's aim is to allow younger generations to experience-- and enthusiasts to rediscover-- this timeless Walt Disney classic.
l'Ecole Georges Méliès in Orly, dedicated to the education and training of new generations of animators, designers and directors for more than a decade, decided in creating Editions de l'Ecole Georges Méliès to continue the series of art books devoted to the great Disney films started by Pierre Lambert nearly twenty years ago. Sleeping Beauty is the first book published by Editions de l'Ecole Georges Méliès, the prelude to an ambitious collection dedicated to animation’s masterpieces.
Pierre Lambert teaches history and techniques of animation at the Ecole Georges Méliès at Orly.

Advance Praise from Alain Littaye, Disneyandmore.blogspot.com:
"Here is a bloody good news for those of you fans of Disney Animation: Pierre Lambert's next gorgeous book will be all about the famous Disney classic animated movie Sleeping Beauty ( "La Belle au Bois Dormant", in french ) ... For those of you who might not know who Pierre Lambert is, he's the one who did the previous large size books about Pinochio, Mickey Mouse, Snow White, the Jungle Book, all done with the participation of the Walt Disney Studios who provided the original cels, artwork, etc...
"The result is a series of gorgeous coffee table books - it will be difficult to beat Lambert books in terms of quality for books about Disney Animation - and all of them are a must-have for any Disney animation fan. In a previous article done when the Jungle Book book was released I told you how good they are and I wouldn't miss this new one - specially this one because Sleeping Beauty was the most "stylized" of all Disney classics and this should help to have a book even more gorgeous than the previous ones."
