Description

A new 328-page graphic novel beautifully illustrated by Frederik Peeters.

From the publisher:

In a Paris suffocated by torrential rains, a mother and daughter embark on the trail of an extraordinary family secret. Serge Lehman and Frederik Peeters at the peak of their art.

In the Couvreur family, there is Maud, 75 years old, author of children's novels whose success is matched only by discretion. There is Betty, her shady daughter, prone to fits of aphasia that literally rob her of speech. And there is Clara, Betty's daughter, a brilliant and fabulous high schooler who dreams of going to live with her father in London ... One December morning, Maud has a stroke in her sleep. Clara, who is staying at her grandmother's, tries to call for help but a strange man bursts in. He says he's called Max and says Maud has a package to give him. Clara tries to push him away but Max undergoes a hideous metamorphosis and threatens the girl before disappearing leaving behind two black feathers. Disoriented by Maud's hospitalization and Max's intrusion, Betty and Clara have no choice but to launch an investigation into the secrets of the Couvreur family. An investigation that will imperceptibly turn into a journey to the land of monsters and, perhaps, a secret from the ages.
