This book is beautiful, haunting and at times even funny. It is the story of Milady de Winter. One of the main antagonists from The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. This first volume begins after Athos has found out she is a criminal and hangs her in the forest, leaving her to die. The story continues as she meets D'Artagnan. This is a riveting, dark and honest portrayal of a woman who is one of literature's greatest villains.
The art is wonderful in this book. It is at times whimisical, while at other's comically realistic. It is reminiscent of Dupuy and Berberian, Kerascoet and Kate Beaton.
