A scarce collection in softcover, I have only seen one other hardcover copy in my life! This copy was "From the private library of Hugh Hefner's." Attached to the front endpaper is an illustrated bookplate "From the Private Library of Hugh Hefner" and laid in is a signed letter from the Hugh Hefner Trust certifies to the book was "at the Playboy Mansion at the time of Hef's death."
99 Vargas Girls - all reproduced as full-page or double-page spreads - as published in Playboy magazine 1962-1972. Plus 17 other color illustrations.
This is the only collection of Alberto Vargas' monthly pin-ups for Hugh Hefner's Playboy magazine, and most other Vargas books gloss over this period in the artist's career, but it covers over two decades in Vargas' career--longer than his association with Esquire!
It's an interesting period showing Vargas adapting his pin-up to changing tastes and Playboy's ideal.
