After winning the International Festival of Bande Dessinee's Grand Prix in 1999, Robert Crumb created this wild grotesque painted image especially for the 2000 festival and for the official festival poster. However, festival official's rejected the image for the festival and there was no official poster that year. Instead Crumb's festival poster was repurposed as the poster for his art exhibition at the festival: "Who's Afraid of Robert Crumb?"
