Description

A pictorial history of vintage Cream of Wheat advertising from the first half of the twentieth century. The founder of the company was an art connoisseur and personally oversaw the artists hired. The company boasted a massive advertising budget and this book includes for most of the artwork, the price that was paid for the illustration (the "artist/agency fee") so, for example, you can see N.C. Wyeth was paid $500 in 1907 for his painting "The Bronco Buster" and Jessie Willcox Smith was paid $416 in 1909 for her illustration.

Includes Haddon Sundblom, N.C. Wyeth, Flagg, Jessie Wilcox Smith, Andrew Loomis, J.C. Leyendecker, Harry Anderson, many others.
