Presents photos of every woman featured as a centerfold in the 50-year history of Playboy Magazine--the photos that were published and some that were not (from Hefner's files). Along with the photos are capsule interviews with many of the 514 women, who speak about what the experience meant to them, and some text describing the context of the photo shoot. The author Gretchen Edgren was a Playboy editor for 25 years.
Of particular interest is the subtextual sociology of 40 years of changing standards of feminine beauty, body type, modesty/nudity, representation, etc. all laid out in one volume.
