Lapone is a great fan of the fifties and the "Ligne Claire" and works as a graphic artist and illustrator. His panels are very graphic with a lot of pictorial interest (like Serge Clerc). Adam Clarks is his latest graphic novel.
From the publisher:
Gossip columnist, spy or thief ... it's difficult to identify Adam Clarks!
It is a social evening where the "elite" of this world meet the enigmatic Adam Clarks. You might think he's too busy to kowtow to the powerful and beautiful. But do not lose sight of his real purpose: an invaluable 100 carat ruby, exposed for all to see: the Long Star. That night, Adam's cat burglar talents are on display: the jewel is stolen. Nobody saw anything or heard anything. Nobody? Don't be so sure ... Now the target of both the KGB and the CIA, Adam will have to play both ways if he wants to get out.
With Adam Clarks, Regis Hautière gives us a classy and charismatic hero, between Arsène Lupin and Mad Men, in the near universe of old spy movies. As a worthy representative of the "atomic" school, the stylized and elegant line of Antonio Lapone creates a wonderfully tasty uchronic atmosphere, combining the aesthetics of Futurism with 1960.
