Mississippi River (1979), written by Jean-Michel Charlier and illustrated by Jean Giraud, introduced the character Jim Cutlass, but none of his subsequent adventures ever saw translation on these shores. This collects the original 60-page album by Charlier & Giraud and the six albums written by Jean Giraud and illustrated by Christian Rossi.

When Giraud took over the writing, he brought with him a certain 'Moebius quality' that pushes the series in a surreal direction.

This includes a gallery of studies, character portraits, and layouts by Rossi.

From the publisher:

A benchmark western by three masters of the genre!

Jim Cutlass, a former Northern officer, inherits a cotton plantation after the Civil War. Anti-slavery, he finds himself battling the Ku Klux Klan, but also extremists of all stripes, formidable Voodoo sorcerers and even the living dead!

A Jim Cutlass Adventure is a series created by Jean-Michel Charlier on the screenplay and Jean Giraud on the drawing (the team behind Blueberry), whose first album was published in 1979. It was continued [after Charlier's death] by Jean Giraud/ Moebius on screenplay and Christian Rossi on drawing, from 1991 to 1999.
