From the publisher:
You might know Don Rosa from his Eisner Award winning work on Uncle $crooge and Donald Duck comics, but did you know he was quite famous among comic fans even before that? In 1971, Don started his very own strip, "The Pertwillaby Papers," in The Kentucky Kernel, the daily student's newspaper at the University of Kentucky where he later earned a civil engineering degree. It was subsequently continued in the famous Rocket's Blast Comicollector fanzine, and several plot elements of title character Lancelot Pertwillaby's adventures were later re-used in Don's Duck comics.
Now, for the first time ever, relive all the completely uncut episodes of this zany series in a unique collector's edition that contains tons of bonus features like newspaper articles, interviews, ads, several additional comics from Don's youth and much more!
Also included are introductions by Don himself, Pertwillaby co-creator Ron Weinberg and veteran Marvel and DC writer Roger Stern!
"The Pertwillaby Papers is great, great stuff!" -- Kurt Busiek, author/creator of Astro City
"One of my all-time favorite cartoonists." -- Ed Brubaker, author of Captain America, author/creator of Fatale
"Very funny!" -- Scott McCloud, author of Understanding Comics, creator of Zot!
"For those of you who know Don Rosa as someone with a talent for Duck comics, you're right. But he is more than that. He is a comic book writer, penciler, inker, letterer, and cover artist -- and whether it's with Scrooge McDuck or Lance Pertwillaby, he knows how to create great comics. Meticulously researched, obsessively detailed in its art and writing, funny, and verbose just shy of a fault, The Pertwillaby Papers is Don Rosa to the bone, and I love it." -- Review or Die
