This first printing has been inscribed by the artist with a full-page ink self-portrait: "To Ron and Julianne / Jack 'Banana Nose' Kinney" and added a heart "Luv"

Kinney has drawn himself with a fountain pen tied to his nose writing the inscription.

This was inscribed to Ron Stark, founder/director of S/R Laboratories Animation Art Conservation Center, and his wife Julianne.

A memoir by the longtime Disney storyman, animator, and shorts director Jack Kinney. Kinney contributed to eleven Disney features and hundreds of shorts, heading the Goofy unit. He directed the Academy Award-winning Der Fuhrer's Face. The book includes a descriptive list of some 250 animation artists mentioned in the text--an excellent reference. Foreword by Leonard Maltin.

Out of print.

From the publisher:

Jack Kinney went to work for Walt Disney in 1931, when animation was a mysterious new art form that left audiences breathless. Disney's small studio, already leading the industry, was a creative mecca for brash, eccentric artists of every type imaginable, and Walt, "a genius whose enormous vision was equaled only by the size of his ego," was the rough-and-ready coach of this talented team. This is the world brought to life in this book. Creating the beloved Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy shorts and features such as Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Bambi required an endless supply of gags and funny stories. The Disney artists worked hard--but they played hard, too. Infused with his infectious sense of humor and complete with excerpts from Disney memos and transcripts, Jack Kinney's uncensored anecdotes and lively drawings share a side of the Disney story only hinted at in other accounts.
