A Playwright Tells Almost All
George Kaufman cites the woes of life on the tryout circuit.
The wheels of show business are turning again, the Shuberts are grinding, and another theatrical season is on. Locked up in bedrooms in New Haven, Wilmington, and a dozen other tryout centers, any number of playwrights are trying desperately to fix the second act; or the third act; or the first act; or the intermissions.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the non-profit Al Hirschfeld Foundation.
