Fairies and Goddesses.

Illustrator: Erlé Ferronnière

Writer: Aurélie Brunel

From the author:

Through the different stories in Fairies & Goddesses, we wanted to show how the goddesses survived in the fairies. This is not a regression in the sense that the fairies have lost their strength. Quite the opposite... If the different ideologies that have marked time have worked in this direction, discrediting this figure little by little - failing to simply make it disappear -, it has survived. Making it small, anonymous, relegating it to the rank of character in children's stories has not taken away its strength... Because despite everything, Woman remains a mystery, a multiple and powerful being, capable of giving nothing less than Life!

Yes, these goddesses, these fairies, who are at once mothers, lovers, warriors, healers, sovereigns, scholars... it's you!

I wanted to pay tribute to you, to give you back – in all humility – this place that the centuries have wanted to take away from you for fear of your potential! I am thinking of you, my many friends who have given birth in recent years, you whose bellies are rounding out at this very moment, you again whose offspring are growing visibly… But make no mistake: I am also thinking of those who will not experience motherhood, because they too carry the legacy of the Great Goddess. Their gift to life will be played out elsewhere and their legitimacy is no less great. What better example than Queen Guinevere who never had children and yet ensured the fertility of the kingdom by her simple presence?! This message is for all of you.

May life be sweet to you and reveal your strength!
