The picaresque true-life adventures of three pillars of Franco-Belgian comics (Jijé, Morris and Franquin) as they journey across the United States and Mexico.

The artwork by Schwartz is simply fantastic, filled with both vitality and precision, putting him among the top modern Clear Line artists working today.

From the publisher:

Worried about the advance of Communism in Europe, Jijé decided to leave the old world with his family. Franquin and Morris decided to follow him, and all these people arrived in New York in 1948. Acquiring a Ford Hudson, they crisscross the U.S., hoping to be hired by Disney studios.

Unfortunately, Disney was laying off more than he was hiring. Seeing his tourist visa expire, Gillain decided to relocate to Mexico with his family, soon joined by Franquin and Morris. After the success of "Groom Vert de Gris', the team of Yann and Schwartz attack the picaresque American adventures of three pillars of Franco-Belgian comics in this historic album.

The first edition of this book is enriched with a 10-page booklet in collaboration with the Gillain and Franquin families. In it, Benoit Gillain reflects on the trip which occurred when he was ten years old.

This booklet is illustrated with original photographs taken from family archives.
