Launched in 2006 by Daisuke "Dice" Tsutsumi and Gerald Guerlais, Sketchtravel is a unique international charity art project. The red sketchbook was passed from one artist's hand to another like an Olympic torch in an artistic relay through 12 countries over 4 1/2 years. This traveling museum contains the personal visions of 72 exceptional illustrators, animators and comic book artists, including artists such as Bill Plympton, Juanjo Guarnido, James Jean, Glen Keane, Frederick Back, and Hayao Miyazaki. This book reproduces all the artwork in a beautiful large format hardcover. A portion of the proceeds benefit Room to Read, an international non-profit dedicated to increasing child literacy in developing countries.
