Candide, the classic by Voltaire (1694-1778) is one of the most beautiful illustrated books by Gus BOFA (1883-1968). Originally printed in only 100 copies in 1932 and decorated with 64 compositions drawn and engraved by Bofa, including 32 in full-page color and 32 tailpieces in black. This edition with commentary by Alice Fuligni, includes all the illustrations, without the original text, and was produced for an exhibition at the Michel Lagarde gallery.
This edition is printed in 200 copies, of which 50 Hors-Commerce (non-commercial) copies are reserved for friends and collaborators of the book "In search of gus bofa". This is one of 150 numbered commercial copies.
