From the publisher:
Gabriele Pennacchioli is an Italian author who has worked for several world-renowned animation studios. He is also an anatomy consultant for studios, and in parallel with his work as an art director, he creates many very personal pin-up illustrations.
Gabriele's women are not classic pin-ups who seek to attract your eye. Very often they are already playing a game with another character in the image. There is often a lot of suggestion in Gabriele's images. The women he draws are modern, feminine, sure of themselves and of their dominant position in a society that men think they rule. They know how to bring them to their knees, make them carry out all their whims, but also use them to satisfy themselves, for pleasure, for desire, for them. Beyond an assumed feminism, they often invite the reader to observe their games and to become a witness to their domination. If they sometimes offer themselves to a partner, it is because they want it and have decided it. They are not objects of pleasure, but sources of desire, that one can only approach with their consent. They lead the dance, on all occasions, and do not let themselves be counted.
Through his illustrations of modern pin-ups, Gabriele seriously sweeps away centuries of illustrations of submissive women. He puts these women on pedestals and makes us witnesses to this adoration. Few cartoonists have--and illustrate--such a feminine and emancipated image of the modern woman.
