Josef Čapek (1887 – 1945) was a multitalented Czech artist who was best known as a painter. This major monograph reproduces numerous examples of his oils, drawings and graphics.
"Published by Obecní dům (Municipal House) on the occasion of its exhibition dedicated to Josef Čapek and his book of essays The Humblest Art." The Humblest Art covered the "low arts" including sign painting, illustration and photography.
