From the publisher:

Few Swedes have become as well-known in the United States and at the same time remain as unknown in Sweden as Gustaf Tenggren. He had a very productive career, which has come to influence today's Western popular culture, which perhaps no other Swede has done before or after. As a 20-year-old at the beginning of the 20th century, Tenggren was given the prestigious assignment to take over the illustrations for the National Work "Bland Tomtar och troll" after John Bauer, but after only four years he left Sweden and never returned. In the United States, he broke through and established himself as one of the foremost illustrators and artists of the 20th century, making many magazine covers for Life and painting New York's upper-class, celebrities and movie stars. When Walt Disney decided to make film history's first cartoon feature film, Snow White, he chose Gustaf Tenggren as one of the main characters, and for the masterpieces Pinocchio, Fantasia and Bambi. Then Tenggren ended up at Disney, after receiving an Oscar for a cartoon short The Old Mill. Tenggren instead became one of the world's leading children's and picture book illustrators, with an impressive output. Tenggren has illustrated one of the world's best-selling children's books The Poky Little Puppy Although he may have become more influential internationally than his own role models John Bauer and Anders Zorn, he still has not received his recognition at home.

This is the first book in Swedish about Gustaf Tenggren, the result of Lars Emanuelsson's more than 25 years of research into Tenggren's life and art.
