Improvvisamente, a little sketchbook made up of many sketchbooks, is Alfred's exercise ground. Every morning, he sits down and draws in his sketchbook for 15 to 20 minutes. In the 20 years Alfred has been doing this, there have been many drawings and sketchbooks. In Improvvisamente, whatever preoccupied or delighted him is presented for our delight.
Alfred used these sketchbooks as a medium to draw without purpose, not intending his free drawing exercises to be shared, with no intent to publish. This was Alfred's artistic laboratory, a place to experiment with whatever technique or medium that came to mind... And it's fascinating!

These images come to me unexpectedly in the early hours of the morning, emerging through a ritual that has accompanied me for over fifteen years: starting my day with twenty minutes of free, improvised drawing.
