From the publisher:

Joe Bowler (1928–2016) was one of the youngest members of the famed Charles E. Cooper Studio, and he quickly rose to prominence as one of America's foremost illustrators. At the height of his success, Bowler was suddenly stricken with polio at the age of thirty. Initially paralyzed from the neck down, he spent seven years in recovery and refused to let it diminish his career. With extraordinary perseverance, he regained his mobility and went on to achieve lasting acclaim as a portrait painter and fine artist. This volume showcases the full breadth of his work—from luminous magazine illustrations to iconic portraits and paintings—celebrating the resilience, artistry, and enduring legacy of a remarkable talent.
