This is an English translation of the award-winning French album Joe la Pirate (Glenat, 2021). Illustrated by Virginie Augustin, one of our favorite French BD artists (Alim le Tanneur, Voyage aux Ombres, The Cimmerian: Iron Shadows in the Moon, etc.). A graduate of Gobelins, Virginie was an animator at Walt Disney Animation France until its closing in 2003 before turning becoming a BD artist.

Marion Barbara Carstairs – "Joe" to her friends – began a life of adventure soon after her birth in 1900, when a camel accident gave her the spark of inspiration to change her name to Tuffy.
