From the cover:
This three-volume series allows us to unveil the most primitive drawings generated by a basic idea, the transition from mind to paper, the first and unknown links in the creative chain of this prolific artist.
This is a compilation of works detailing Juan Gimenez's career, from his beginnings in the seventies to his recent successes of The Metabarons and other great sci-fi classics. This material is separated into four themes:
- Robots
- Spaceships
- Sceneries
- Film, Illustration and Comics
... all of them interconnected, of course, by a common goal: to communicate a message. To tell a story.
How can we define all those sketches? ...excited? ...crazed? ...frenzied? maybe a little of all that.
All of them show dozens of lines, but only one of them is evidently the correct one. A mess of lines forming visuals of amazing beauty and dynamism, but with a temporary usefulness that disappears under the ink and acrylic brushstrokes.
This is the spirit we want to preserve unharmed in all these pages.
