A limited edition of 1000 copies and out of print everywhere. Although uncalled for, this copy is signed and dated 2026 by the artist on the title page.
"Life Wants to Live" contains all 15 paintings exhibited at Phil's Gallery Show at Jonathan Levine's Gallery as well as pencil drawings, an introduction by Michiko Oki and a conversation with Justin Mortimer.
This 8 x 8 inch 96 page hardcover book was published in an edition of 1,000 copies; 500 for United States distribution and 500 for European distribution. It is a joint Donald M. Grant, Imbroglio and Allen Spiegel Fine Arts publication which premiered at Phil's Gallery Show opening at Jonathan Levine's Gallery in New York City on February 21, 2015 and contains all 15 paintings exhibited as well as pencil drawings, an introduction by Michiko Oki and a conversation with Justin Mortimer.
The book was designed by Phil and, like Urge Ourselves Under, is not for the casual admirer of Phil Hale's art as it is not a general collection representative of his style. Rather it is a depiction of what and where Phil Hale is at right now, in this moment of time. The Gallery Show in New York is no longer up but this book is a way to relive the experience.
