The limited edition. This is one of 250 copies with a color illustrated, numbered limitation bookplate signed by R. Crumb.
A complete collection of the early and absolutely filthy underground Snatch Comics #1-3. The creators Robert Crumb, Robert Williams, S. Clay Wilson, Spain, Jay Lynch, Rory Hayes, Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, and James Osborne, all used pseudonyms (R. Crust, Crank Collingwood, Rawbut Weeyums, etc.) when these pieces were published in 1968 and 1969 to avoid prosecution on obscenity laws. This is some of the strongest stuff ever seen in comix and not for the weak of heart!
Dan Fogel and Patrick Rosenkranz contribute essays on the story behind the comic and its historical context. All the artwork is identified, and the original front and back covers by Crumb are reproduced in color.
Snatch Comics Treasury features fold-out pages (7x10") for the three original center spreads, as well as fold-outs for S. Clay Wilson's "mates" cartoon (from Snatch #1, which was a two-page spread in the first printing) and Rory Hayes' "juices" cartoon (from Snatch #2, which includes the red, green and rainbow-colored juices!). This deluxe, square-bound book features a 16-page color section at the beginning (including reproductions of the original front and back covers), followed by 108 pages of glorious black and white underground smut.
S. Clay Wilson is the primary benefactor of this project. A significant portion of the book's proceeds will be given to the S. Clay Wilson Trust Fund, which has been set up to help Wilson with his medical expenses.
