Ian and Betty Ballantine helped form Bantam Books in 1945 and Ballantine Books in 1952, two major publishing houses for fantasy and science fiction. Betty Ballantine edited and wrote the introduction to the bestselling Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta in 1975 and this bestselling follow-up in 1977. This Frazetta art book series sought to legitimize Frazetta's paintings as works of fine art, eventually spanning five volumes through 1985, and these books remain some of the classiest, most elegant presentations of Frazetta's paintings.
This is the scarce clothbound hardcover edition made primarily for the library market.
This second collection has 32 color plates reproducing 28 paintings, eight full-page and four smaller black & white illustrations, includes classic paintings Golden Girl, Moonmaid, The Huntress, Ghoul Queen, Combat, Against the Gods, among others.
