From the publisher:

Discover for the first time a copious selection of works by the formidable artist Julia Soboleva. For many years now, she has been gracing the art world with a complete body of work, where darkness meets light. With her extraordinary beauty and depth, Julia Soboleva is a prodigious artist whose dazzling appearance on the new art scene should be fully appreciated.

Julia Soboleva is a Latvia born, UK based mixed-media artist. Her process involves painting and collage on found photographic imagery. Meditating on the themes of madness and reality, Soboleva is constructing mysterious narratives with ominous overtones and absurd humour. Being born and raised in a post era and not being able to find her own place against the complicated past of her nation, Soboleva explores the notions of family, taboo and transgenerational trauma in her work. She obtained a Master's Degree in Illustration at Manchester School of Art in 2018, and is now working as an educator and freelance designer.
