Gabrielle Vincent was the pseudonym of the Belgian painter, children's book writer and illustrator Monique Martin. Her signature series was "Ernest and Celestine" (1981-2001) about a bear who serves as a father figure to a little mouse. The books have won awards, been translated into several languages, and adapted into animated films and TV series.
