A collection of autobiographic comics by Peter Pontiac.
From the back cover:
In this collection of autobiographical comics, Peter Pontiac reveals his struggles with the world, love, addiction and virgin pages. Comics need not only be laughed at, the artist believed: in addition to comix, there are also tragix. Pontiac, a self-proclaimed shy extrovert, depicted his famous self-reflections in a compelling way. 'I rarely look my best in my own drawings', he said in 1997. 'If I'm going to be so critical, I shouldn't spare myself either.'
From Lambiek.net:
Peter Pontiac was one of the most prominent artists and designers of the Dutch alternative art scene. As the "godfather" of Dutch underground comix, he rose to prominence in the 1960s hippie scene, before reinventing himself during the 1970s-1980s punk era with his comic character Gaga. He later became a productive illustrator for newspapers, music magazines, posters and record covers in the Netherlands. Mostly staying within the realm of subcultures, Pontiac was widely praised for his raw, personal, and highly detailed artwork. His stories about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll pioneered the genre of autobiographical comics, before other artists made it mainstream. One of the most recognizable artists in the Netherlands, Peter Pontiac's art is still well-sought after today and enjoys an enduring cult following.
