Ape is Rich Tommaso's loving homage/parody of Harvey Kurtzman's Mad comic book.

Parodies of The Bride of Frankenstein, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and The Catcher in the Rye, and Kurtzman's own Potshot Pete. Plus, Tommaso's recurring character Venus appears in a Mad-style parody.

Tommaso is inspired by comics and magazines of bygone eras, and various stories may emulate/parody Archie Comics, 1950s Dell humor, John Stanley, romance, giant monster, etc. It's all wonderful wonderful stuff.

Ape was first self-published by Rich Tommaso in a bigger version strictly for his Patreon backers.

This is the mass market comic book version at a nice price!

If you haven't yet experienced the artistry of Tommaso, we also have some bargain priced (only $15) digest-sized reprints of his early out-of-print issues of Black Phoenix.
