Traditionally a maquette is a three dimensional model that the animators use as reference. At Walt Disney Feature Animation's height, the company produced exclusive limited edition maquettes as gifts for the Disney employees that worked on the film. This maquette of Tarzan standing next to a tree was sculpted by sculptor Kent Melton (who sculpted most of the maquettes for Feature Animation during the 1990s). Only 2,200 were made and were given to cast and crew members as a wrap party gift. The maquette is a matte grey. 11 inches tall. The base is 4 inches in diameter. A gold limitation plate on the bottom states: "Tarzan Wrap Party June 1999 Limited Edition 0080/2,200." These are justly treasured by their owners and rarely come up for sale.
