A passion project of the late Disney and Dreamworks animation director and story artist Kelly Asbury, this is a tribute to the Golden Age of ventriloquism and five practitioners: Edgar Bergen, Paul Winchell, Jimmy Nelson, Senor Wences, and Shari Lewis. Includes animated flipbook sequences utilizing photos of the ventriloquists and dummies in the page corners. Out of print.

From the publisher:

For everyone who ever uttered S'awright? - S'awright', sang along with Farfel as he spelled his homage to Nestle's 'chaw-claaat' or learned to be nice with Lamb Chop and Charlie Horse, here comes Kelly Asbury's Dummy Days, bringing back the best of the Golden Age of ventriloquism. And for those who missed out, don't despair! Kelly Asbury profiles the five consummate vents who turned a vaude-villain gimmick into an American art from: the legendary Edgar Bergen, the surreal Senor Wences, innovative Paul Winchell, versatile Jimmy Nelson and the invincible Shari Lewis.'

This came from the collection of Steve Sherman, a writer, artist, puppet-maker, puppet-performer, and avid collector. Steve worked as Jack Kirby's assistant, at Filmation, and Sid and Marty Krofft, before forming his own company Puppet Studio in 1984 contributing to "Pee-Wee's Playhouse", "Men in Black 1 & 2", "Mighty Joe Young", "Muppets" and numerous other TV series and feature films.
