This was the first time the 44-page Freak Show—originally serialized in Heavy Metal—was collected. And the first time in black and white (to better appreciate Wrightson's fine line inking).

This volume is 8.5 x 12 inches (A4 size), larger than the original magazine publication, and twice as big as the 2005 Image collection.

Wrightson's thirteen pen & inks for the 1990 Complete and Uncut Edition of Stephen King's The Stand and The Stand Portfolio (Glimmer Graphics, 1991) are reproduced as full-page illustrations.

Wrightson created a dozen full-page interior illustrations for the 1990 Complete and Uncut Edition of Stephen King's The Stand. Wrightson created a thirteenth illustration exclusively for the limited edition The Stand Portfolio (Glimmer Graphics, 1991). This is its only publication outside of the portfolio.

In the interview, Wrightson speaks about making Freak Show and the illustrations for The Stand.

Additionally, this edition contains an "Incomplete" Bernie Wrightson Checklist, a small color reproduction of the painting "The Meltification of the Loathsome Fishes," and an introduction by the publisher Rob van Bavel.
