Two artbooks by artist Julien Delval in a beautiful slipcase.
Book 1, Monograph, is a selection of his highly detailed paintings and illustrations.
Book 2, Studies, is a collection of sketches and outlines, breathing life into imaginary worlds and the fantasy realm.
Julien Delval, born in 1972, studied fine art and began his career as an illustrator for role-playing company Multisim. The connections he made at the firm led to the realization of numerous book covers for different publishing houses. Today, after working in comics, he works again in the gaming sector, mainly with Days of Wonder, and spends time devoted to his personal art work, sponsored by the Daniel Maghen Gallery in Paris.
He specializes in creating vivid and emotional scenes that are at once both gripping and sensitive. His inspiration for these ancient worlds, mythological characters and fantasy come from both classical painting and 20th century imagery.
The first volume, Monograph, is a magnificent showcase of his paintings and illustrations, filled with pages alive with haunting emotion and spectacularly drawn landscapes, giving the viewer the feeling of actually being in the scene.
The second volume, Studies, reveals in detail the "machinery" behind each of his visions, and inside you'll find the artist's sketches, studies, composition research, his personal regrets and intimate travel journals.
