The hardcover edition of this massive retrospective exhibition catalogue on the most renown German commercial artist of the 20th century. Hohlwein was a master of design, the human figure and animal anatomy. Over 345 color and 90 black & white illustrations. Text in German.

Table of contents, Foreword by Wolfgang Till, Director of the Münchner Stadtmuseums. Preface, chronology of Hohlwein's life, bibliography, indices of publishers and printers, names and places. Picture credits.

Hohlwein was a German poster artist who produced works for corporate advertisers and for the German state, including the Nazi regime. Frontispiece portrait of Hollwein. Color and black and white illustrations throughout.

There are really only two monographs on this incredible but somewhat overlooked German poster artist. There was the 1926 volume with 69 color and over 250 black & white illustrations and this 1996 exhibition catalogue with over 345 color and 90 black & white illustrations. Both published in Germany. (One slim book on Hohlwein was published in the U.S. in 1976: a collection of 45 posters.)
