Frank Brangwyn was so popular in his day that monographs were published on each aspect of his career: mural painting, oil, watercolor, and two thick books on his etchings.
This volume from 1919 focuses on his etchings (120 pages), war posters (40 pages), and book illustration, woodcuts, brush drawings, watercolors, pastels (the last 40 pages).
There are 50 color and monochrome plates and 95 black & white illustrations in the text.
The final chapter is titled "Brangwyn's Versatility: and the World's Distrust of the Versatile."
This copy belonged to landscape painter Paul Edson Green (1892-1957) of Westfield, New York, who has blindstamped the margins of several pages with his ownership stamp.
