One of the beautifully made facsimile Crumb sketchbooks made in Germany. 3/4 leather and black cloth binding with a separate 44-page booklet translating the text into German and annotating the American cultural references (A-Team, Perry Mason, etc.), all housed in a simple slipcase with a matching spine label. This copy is still unopened in the original custom-printed Crumb-illustrated wrapping paper.

But the best part of this collection is the hundreds of drawings by the preeminent underground artist, the Charles Schulz of underground comix.

And just as importantly, unlike the Fantagraphics or Taschen sketchbook collections which are edited, the Zweitausendeins editions are facsimiles and not only do they include every doodle, but they maintain the continuity and context of the drawings. There is no better way of seeing Crumb's mind at work.

Artist/filmmaker J. J. Sedelmaier described one of the Zweitausendeins editions this way: "The production value of this tome is amazing. The end papers display a marble technique; the pages are edged in blue and individually numbered with blue numerals as if printed with a rubberstamp; the book is supplied with a silk ribbon for keeping your place for future reference; and the book opens and stays open easily --evidence of top-notch binding. This is a Bible of an artist's explorations and thought processes all reproduced with as much care, respect, and love, as I've ever seen. As far as I'm concerned, only the two Acme Novelty Date-book volumes presenting Chris Ware's sketchbooks of 1986-2002 come close to presenting an artist's work in such a personal way."
