John Held, Jr. is one of my favorite illustrators. He was an absolute original. I've collected all his books, plus catalogs, tearsheets, and original art (I'm stiil hoping to find a nice watercolor cityscape). His story is fascinating. He was married four times. He made a fortune and lost it in the crash. And yet he is an enigma.
