A modern facsimile reprinting of the classic 1960s travelogue children's book series which has influenced numerous animation designers. This edition includes some info on Sasek and endnotes update info on the city.

From the publisher:

Let the rumbling cable car tell you the story! And what a story: From the crookedest street in the world to the Peking ducks in Chinatown, San Francisco is easily one of the world's most enchanting cities. Illustrator Miroslav Sasek captures both the breathtaking landscape and the cosmopolitan flavor of the City by the Bay in This is San Francisco. First published in 1962, Sasek's jaunty, colorful illustrations will still dazzle kids and adults alike.

Miroslav Sasek was born in 1916 in Prague. An author and illustrator, he is best remembered for his classic stories on the great cities of the world, including Paris, New York City, Venice, London, and Rome. His iconic series won several awards, such as the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year and the Boy's Club of American Junior Books Award. He died in 1980 in Switzerland.
