It shows the artist's drawing hand in search of the perfect line and is therefore the ideal instrument for aspiring draftspeople or for lovers of beautiful, dynamic, lively drawings. See what's hiding UNDER THE INK with the pencil at the ready.

From the introduction:
When Expo 59 moved to a new building in Beenhouwerstraat "59" in Brussels, some illustrations by Alice Vernes named Bakelitte & Formika appeared during the restoration. These two mischievous characters seemed to us, Given their fifties appearance, ideal to serve as a signboard for our Expo 59 concept. We acquired the rights and partner in crime Al Severin set to work to revive them. Before the actual comic book work could begin, however, Severin had to reinvent Bakelitte & Formika, sketch, model, move and interact them. We have wrapped that result up nicely in this Under the Ink, just like its predecessor, more than a book full of pencil drawings. Call it a handbook, a source of information or a visual stimulus that can inspire you. It is a 'what precedes' when the artist sits at the drawing table, rooting to find the right pose, the right action, the right expression.
This time we decided not to write any comments, the thematically placed images speak for themselves. The only advice that Severin does want to repeat for aspiring artists: take a sheet of paper and scribble it down to the smallest corner. After all, practice is what makes art.
