Noted film historian John Culhane tells the story behind the creation of Fantasia, using never-before-published material and lavishly illustrated with sketches, storyboards and frames that reveal the creative process at work.
This is the second book on Fantasia. The first was published in 1940 and credited to Deems Taylor. This second book, published in 1983 (and reissued several times) and written by animation expert John Culhane, is not as lavish as the 1940 book but has more information on making of the film.
John Culhane was a journalist, author, Disney animation historian and inspiration for the characters of Mr. Snoops in the 1977 Disney animated feature "The Rescuers" and Flying John in the "Rhapsody in Blue" segment of "Fantasia 2000." His books on Disney animation include "Walt Disney's Fantasia" (1983), "Aladdin: The Making of an Animated Film" (1992) "and Fantasia/2000: Visions of Hope" (1999).
