Subtitled, "Character Designs for Animation by Carter Goodrich," this is the first collection of character designs by the artist, culled from throughout his animation career. These drawings, though not his most famous, were meticulously selected by the artist as the most interesting, with characters that are believable, relatable, flawed, sympathetic, "those drawings that I feel best represent my work as a character designer."
Goodrich contributes an introduction "Bad Actors and Ne'er Do Wells" where he discusses character designing and describes his own approach and aesthetics.
This book was published on the occasion of the very first gallery exhibition dedicated to the artist in France--or the world! This and Western! are the first two art books devoted to this phenomenal illustrator and character designer. This book is only available from three sources worldwide: Daniel Maghen and LiberDistri in France and Stuart Ng Books in the United States.
The book itself is limited to 1000 copies. Our copies include a signed bookplate limited to 250 copies (bookplate is 6 x 8.3 inches).
Published on the occasion of the "Western!" exhibition organized from May 28 to June 21 at the Daniel Maghen gallery in Paris.
